The TV Series - Summary
This is a much overlooked part of the War of the Worlds story. The TV series ran from 1988 til 1990. The premise for the TV series was that a second wave of Martian invaders was ready to invade. Picking up 30 years after the 1953 movie version of the story the world had completely last all records and memories of the earlier invasion.

The story begins with terrorists attacking a storage depot, unfortunately this depot also contains the 'dead' bodies of the martians from the first wave invasion. The radiation released during the terrorist attack revives the martians curing them off the bacteria and they begin to try and regain their old equipment, power up their heat rays, and attempt to take the world again. The most noticable change that appeared in the TV Series was the ability for the Martians to take over human bodies, this allowed them to move around the country with undetected.

The TV series, slowly drifted away from any real connection to War of the Worlds, eventually the 'Martians' are revealed to not really be from Mars at all, by the 2nd Series the Martians had been replaced by another alien invasion force. The TV Series did include some cool computer effects including the use of the original design 1953 'swan' ships.
